What is your favorite children's movie?
Well, I watch a lot of "cartoons." (Okay, I watch a lot of anime, which tends to be lumped in with "children's fare.") I'd have to say that it's a tie between "Spirited Away" and "The Incredibles," both of which are among the best movies (animated or otherwise) I've ever seen.
Who's your favorite movie villain?
Wow. That's a tough one. I could go with the classics, like HAL 9000 (the poor, misunderstood, confused little artificial intelligence) and Darth Vader (the badass original of our childhood recollection, of course). I've always had a soft spot for the Predator, though mainly because he (it?) gets all of the coolest toys. (Like Vader, the Predator also suffers from poor portrayals in later movie installments, unfortunately.) There's also good old Damon Killian, whose "Who loves you, and who do you love?" I quote from time to time. (Let's face it, he was just about the best thing in "The Running Man.")
When you get right down to it, though, the villain I have the most fun watching on-screen is none other than Hans Gruber. In what is arguably the most enjoyable Bruce Willis action vehicle ever made, the original "Die Hard," Alan Rickman's scenes are every bit as much fun as Willis'.
Holly Gennero McClane: After all your posturing, all your speeches, you're nothing but a common thief.
Hans Gruber: I am an exceptional thief, Mrs. McClane. And since I'm moving up to kidnapping, you should be more polite.
See? Movie villainy can be so much fun!
